Unknown Warrensburg Missouri newspaper, February 1950: J. W. Kirkpatrick Dies at Age of 88. Suffered Broken Hip in Fall January 27---Rites Will Be Held Tomorrow. John W. Kirkpatrick, 88 years old, who made his home at the Martin Hotel died last night at the Warrensburg Hospital and Clinic. Mr. Kirkpatrick had entered the hospital January 27 after breaking his hip in a fall. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Sweeney Phillips chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Hill. Mr. Kirkpatrick, son of James and Ollie Ray Kirkpatrick, was born on a farm near Magnolia May 16, 1861. He had lived in Magnolia and also in Holden and Excelsior. Mr. Kirkpatrick was a farmer until he retired many years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Magnolia. Surviving are three nieces, Miss Ollie Borthick and Miss Lula Borthick of Chihowee and Mrs. Maude Hawkins of Springfield, and three nephews, J. U. Borthick, and T. A. Borthick of Chilhowee and Kirk Hawkins of Springfield.
