(8 Nov 1783 - 8 Apr 1880)

Jacob Bradbury was the 6th son of Benjamin Bradbury. Jacob was born in Mass. or Maine 8 November 1781. He married in Ohio to Patience Quinby, whose first husband died soon after coming to Ohio, Leaving her one child, Polly. Jacob served in the War of 1812 under Harrison, and drew a pension. He was a very small man with blue eyes, black hair, and a heavy chest; very temporate in his habits, would never eat anything warmer than the blood or eat over a certain amount, no matter how hungry, never eating over three bisquits, used no high seasonings, as pepper, etc. Loved to hunt and killed many deer. Was a good farmer. Rather stern with his children. A very strong Whig and a very strong Baptist after he joined the church, which was when he was about 45. Was a great reader of newspapers, especially Nile's Register; the Bible, Philosophy and Religious History; very particular about how things were done, Liberal to the poor. Quite a natural mechanic.
