Wayne County Journal Banner, Piedmont, Missouri, July 13, 2016: Bill Paul Bennett, 84, was born Feb. 14, 1932. He was the son of Coleman Bradford Bennett and Viola Louisa Kirkpatrick of Patterson. Bill was a proud veteran and served in Korea from 1952 to 1954. On Nov. 21, 1956, he was united in marriage to Wanda May Hopkins. To this union six children were born. Three daughters, Linda Rogers of Wappapello, Belinda Bennett of Lodi, and Janet Faith Bennett of Greenville; three sons, Paul Bennett of Lowndes, Joseph Bennett, and Adam Bennett of Greenville. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, in-laws, nephews, nieces, honorary family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Homer, Newton, Ab, Glen “Siebert”, Maynard, and Wayne Bennett; three sisters, Lola Parton, Augusta Bennett, and Violet Blake; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Connor Bennett. Bill considered his greatest blessing to have been married to Wanda and to have Henry and Myrtle May Hopkins as his in-laws. He felt a deep respect for them, and for what they helped him learn. He loved them as they did him, “as their own, the way in-laws should.” In his years with Wanda, he was proud to have her work alongside him, especially in timber. He loved working with his children and family at the sawmill. He was proud to know that he and Wanda had instilled a good work ethic in his children and grandchildren. Bill believed his wife and family made him strong. He loved nature and animals. Bill was baptized in the Baptist faith and attended Advance First Church.
