The Seattle Times, Seattle, Washington, Sunday, July 12, 2009: Harlan (Harley) Cal Hudgens, age 69, passed away in Palm Desert, CA on July 4, 2009. Harley was born and raised in Seattle where he enjoyed flying, his motor-home, photography, playing pool, roller skating and spending time with his family and pets. He worked as a Medical Examiner for the King County Coroner's office for 30 years until retiring in 1991. Over the years he also worked for KVI broadcasting traffic reports and reporting news, ran his business called State Newswire, and sold photos and footage to local and national news agencies. Harley was passionate about citizen's rights and was given awards and recognition for his efforts in ensuring public disclosure laws were followed by government offices. He is survived by his wife, Alona McFarland-Hudgens who remains in Palm Desert, and his daughter, Nikki Clarke who resides in Woodinville. We will miss Harley's spirit, philosophy and friendship.
