Nov. 16, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, following heart surgery on Nov. 2, 1994. Mr. Utterberg was born July 3, 1913, in Lake Geneva, WI., the son of Gustaf and Alma (Anderson) Utterberg. He graduated from Janesville High School and attended UW Madison. A Janesville resident for much of his life, Mr. Utterberg was employed by the Parker Pen Company for 33 years prior to his retirement. Gus was well known for his singing and sign painting and was a clown in the Labor Day parades for over 25 years. He was active in the Janesville Little Theater for many years and well as the Janesville Barbershoppers. Mr. Utterberg was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitewater. Surviving are a daughter, Liuvia (Michael) Springer of Poplar Grove, IL; a sister, Sigrid (Harold) Hippe of Fairfield Bay, AR; a brother, Jule (Ramona) Utterberg of Amity, OR; 4 grandchildren: Brock Springer of Poplar Grove, IL, Tina Biscobing of Sparta, WI, Tonya Springer of Fairbault, MN and Tricia Springer of La Crosse, WI; 2 great-grandchildren, Amber and Amanda Springer, both of Poplar Grove, IL. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Fri. Nov. 18, 1994, at Schneider Funeral Home, 1800 E. Racine, St., Janesville, with Rev. Gary Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. on Friday until time of services at Schneider Funeral Home.
