Hardin Butler

The Macon Republican, Macon, Missouri, Dec. 21, 1894, Page 6, Col 5: Uncle Hardin Butler died at his home in Atlanta, Dec. 16th, 1894, after a brief illness. He was born in Adair county, Ky., Jan. 20th, 1808, removed to Sangamon county, Ill., in 1828, where he associated with Lincoln and Douglass, and served as a soldier In the Blackhawk war. In 1830 he married Violet Kirkpatrick, by whom nine children were born. After a few years, there being a large emigration to Iowa, Mr. Butler moved there with his family where he served as a member of the State legislature. Sometime in the fifties be removed to Macon county, where he has resided ever since. Here he married Miss Frances Slaughter, to whom three children were born. Lastly he married Mrs. Ellen Cullison, to whom three children were born. He was a member of A. F. & A. M. of LaPlata, and had been a member of the Christian church, for a year. His body was buried in Mt. Tabor cemetery, Monday. Funeral conducted by Rev. Hamilton.
