(Abt 1908 - Aft 1970)

The San Diego Union, San Diego, California, Sunday Morning, September 3, 1939: Vows Taken In Home of Summer Bride. Miss Gladys Kirkpatrick, daughter of Mrs. Millard T. Kirkpatrick, yesterday became the bride of William F. La Monte at 2 o'clock in the home of her mother, 2961 Frant St. The bride's gown, of filmy Swiss material, belong to her grandmother. It has a tight basque and long sleeves trimmed with ruffles of the same material. The floor length skirt falls over a long under skirt of the same material and over the former is another short skirt that falls midway between the knee and the ankle. A bustle effect adds a quaint touch to the costume. The bride's veil was worn by her great-great grandmother. It is of hand embroidered net and falls from a coronet of heirloom lace to finger tip length. She carried a handkerchief of Point Venise lace that Mrs. Kirkpatrick carried at her wedding.
Rites Are Read
The Rev. Shirley Shaw read the ceremony before the fireplace of the Kirkpatrick home which was banked with seasonal flowers. Wendell Kirkpatrick, brother of the bride, played the wedding march at the ceremony which was witnessed by members of the immediate family only. Mrs. Kirkpatrick chose a gown of printed chiffon for the occasion. Her corsage was of talisman roses. Following the wedding, Mr. LaMonte and his bride left for a week's wedding trip that will take them to San Francisco. The bride chose a smart dressmaker suit of vintage wool with full length coat trimmed in black caracul (sic) for her going away ensemble. Her hat also was of the new vintage shade with a long matching veil.
