Elliott, 78, of 3716 Jackson Avenue, for many years known as El Paso's oldest cowboy, died Friday morning in Southeastern General Hospital after a three-week's illness. Elliot was born in Cumberland county, Ky., Aug. 8, 1869. In 1892 he was graduated from Texas Christian University, which then was located at Thorp Spring. He married a college classmate, Beatrice Davis, in 1892. Coming to El Paso from Deming, N. M., Elliott for a number of years was a member of the faculty at El Paso High School. Later he worked for the W. P. Rabb Cotton Co. When he died, he was in business as an accountant in the First National Bank Building. Elliott was senior elder at Austin Park Christian Church. Survivors are a son, David Elliott of Houston; a sister and a brother. Funeral services will be held Monday in the Hagedon-Harding Chapel with the Rev. D. McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be W. P. Rabb, L. J. Ivey, W. A. Phillips, W. E. Green, A. H. Nations and Lawrence Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be, R. L. Lushbough, Charles Combs. F. B. M. Jones, J. C. Risinger, Leonard Branch, C. G. Hull, E. R. McCracken, W. L. Nash, J. W. Chamness and N. E. Nations.
