Farmington Daily Times, Farmington, New Mexico, Thursday, February 4, 1988, Page 1, Cols. 5 & 6: Accident Kills Cortez Woman. Shiprock---A Cortez, Colo., woman was killed and a Farmington chiropractor and his three children were injured in a weather related head-on collision Wednesday morning on U.S. 666 near Naschitti.

Mildred Birdsong, 65, Cortez, was killed when the vehicle she was driving strayed into the wrong lane and collided head-on into a vehicle driven by Dr. Thomas J. O'Hara, 39, Farmington, said Shiprock District Navajo Police Investigator Virginia Hanson.

The major cause of the fatal accident was poor weather and road conditions. When the collision occurred at 5:51 a.m. Wednesday at milepost 44 on U.S. 666, it was foggy, snow was falling and there was enough slush on the road to make the center line very hard to see, if not altogether invisible, she said.
