Archie Ristine was born November 30, 1922 in Cozad, Nebraska. He was raised in rural Gothenberg, Nebraska and was educated in a one room school house. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and served aboard the aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown CV10. He was a Gunner's Mate in 1st Division. After the war he married his wife Lois in 1946.
Archie was a welder at the Port of Seattle, then moved to Nebraska in 1957 to become a farmer for 10 years. He moved to Ellensburg in 1967 and joined the Carpenter's Union Hall 770. He was a Business Agent for the same union hall before he retired from the union. During his retirement years he was known as the handy man you could hire to do many odd jobs. Archie loved motorcycles and rode them well into his seventies. He was also very passionate about his garden. He loved growing enough vegetables to share with neighbors and church members. He was an active member of the Church of Christ his entire life.
Archie's wife Lois preceded him in death in 1977. He is survived by his son Gary (Stephanie), daughter Barb Ohlde (Steve), and son Randy (Tammy). He had 4 grandchildren; Dillon Roth, Carri Priestley, Krista Kenyon (Chris) and Travis Ohlde (Liz).He had 5 great grandchildren; Helana and Zach Priestley, Tanner and Claire Kenyon, and Grace Ohlde.A celebration of Archie's life will be held at the Church of Christ on December 14 at 1:00 p.m.
