Roxanna "Roxie" Mae Shelley

(6 Oct 1881 - 14 Aug 1900)

Roxie Shelley, aged 18 years, 10 months and 6 days, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. A. McKim, on last Sunday night of typhoid fever. This death takes away another bright young life which has just developed into womanhood. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Shelley of Buffalo precinct, and was born and raised in this immediate vicinity. The funeral services were held at the Grandview Evangelical church northeast of town Tuesday afternoon and the remains were interred in Grandview cemetery surrounded by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. In her life Roxie was a member of the Evangelical church and lived a devoted Christian the last six years of her life. She leaves to mourn her loss her parents, two sisters and four brothers. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved family. Gothenburg Independent, Saturday, August 18, 1900, Page 8, Col. 2. Grand View Cemetery Gothenburg Nebraska. Book, Compiled by Patricia A.
