Norman Lawrence Chronister

Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Sunday, January 28, 2001, Page 10 A, Col. 2: Norman Lawrence Chronister, 78, of Poplar Bluff died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Three Rivers Healthcare-South. Mr. Chronister retired in 1982, after serving 33 years with the Army as a chief warrant officer. He served during World War II where he received two bronze stars and a Purple Heart. On May 21, 1982, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for exceptional meritorious service as a military personnel technician for the 135th Signal Battalion during the period of Feb. 9, 1964, to July 4, 1982. He was born July 4, 1922, in Hendrickson and was of the General Baptist faith. On Dec. 7, 1943,. he was married to Callie Pyle in Rombauer. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Sonya L. Emery of Olathe, Kan.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; half-brothers, Carroll Chronister of Poplar Bluff and Eugene Smith of Yacoma, Wash.; one son, Norman Lee Chronister and his parents John Davis Chronister and Ruth Mayo Chronister preceded him in death. Visitation begins at 7 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Foust officiating. Burial with Full military honors will be in the Rombauer Cemetery.
