The Fresno Bee, Fresno, California, Friday, September 25, 2009: Patricia Ramsden Ellis Russell passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at home with her family in Fresno, Ca. Patricia was born in Mariposa, Ca. on January 27, 1918. She was 91. She graduated from Sierra High School as Valedictorian in 1936, and retired from Pacific Telephone in May of 1975. A lifelong servant to all, Patricia invested her talents as an expert seamstress, writer, and cook to the great enjoyment of her very large family. Her willingness to place the needs and comfort of others ahead of her own set an example of Christian love and service to all who were blessed to know her these many years. The family wished to extend special gratitude to Lori Bridgham who was Patricia's devoted caregiver. Lori was a great source of comfort to Patricia as well as the family right up to Patricia's final days with us. Patricia was widowed in 1951 and later married Robert Sidney Russell who would be at her side for 44 years until his passing. Patricia is survived by her brother, Charles "Chuck" Roy McCance; daughters, Sandra Louise Ellis, and Joan E. Ellis Flynn Laisne from her marriage to her first love, Everett Eldridge Ellis. Patricia leaves a legacy from her two daughters that include seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter so far. She was a blessing to all. Special recognition to Patricia's oldest grandson, Tim Flynn and his wife Tammie and their daughter Alexis who opened their home to Patricia for the last 4-1/2 years. Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Friday, September 25, 2009, from 2:00 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Saint Agnes Hospice, 1111 E.
