Bell, 67, a retired law enforcement officer, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, in Glen Rose. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Monday at Wiley Funeral Home. R.J. Bell was born June 6, 1931, in Roaring Springs. He had been a resident of Glen Rose since 1983. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Lanella Boyd in December 1953 and had been employed by the city of Brownwood Police Department for 10 years. He also served the Brownwood Sheriff's Department for 11/2 years. He married Marjorie Hicks on July 18, 1966, in Brownwood. He retired in December 1986. Survivors: Wife, Marjorie Bell of Glen Rose; sons and daughters-in-law, William Preston and Patsy Lyons of Cleburne and Danny Dwight and Doris Lyons of Rockwall; daughters and sons-in-law, Sidney Kathryn and Ronnie Eoff of Brownwood, Sharon Lea Bell of Abilene, Tammy Sue and Mike Martine of College Station, Minda Lee and Jim Welch of San Antonio, Nancy Carolyn and Kerry Alford of Bedford and Pat Windham of Glen Rose; brother, George Bell of Round Rock; sisters, Jeannette Locks of Comanche and Mary Sue Herring of Fort Worth; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
