Bell of Comanche, a farmer and longtime Brown County resident, died Sunday at a Dublin nursing home after a long illness. He was 85. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Hall & Chaney Funeral Home in Comanche. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Brownwood. Mr. Bell was born in Bell County and had lived in the Thrifty, Holder and Santa Anna communities of Brown County for 50 years, before moving to Comanche six years ago. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Brown County. Survivors: Wife, Lula M. Bell of Comanche; two sons, R.J. Bell of Glen Rose and George Bell of Early; two daughters, Jeannette Locks of Zephyr and Mary S. Herring of Fort Worth; sister, Mae Lindsey of Lampasas; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
