Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Friday, January 14, 1983, Page 19, Col. 2: Tucson, Ariz.--Thelma Mae Chronister, 70, died at 5 a.m. Thursday in Tucson. She had been in poor health for two years. She had lived most of her life in Poplar Bluff. She was born May 13, 1912, in Augusta, Ark. She started a career in nursing when she was 16. In 1958 she graduated from Saint Joseph School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Mrs. Chronister was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star where she had served as Worthy Matron several times. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, Ronald Chronister of St. Louis; two daughters, Marjorie Wooding of New Jersey, Glenda Scherman of Denver Colo.; three brothers, Howard Selvidge, John Selvidge and Thurman Selvidge, all of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Helen Fay Moir of Chicago; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are pending with Cotrell Funeral Chapel.
