Lee Raymond Chronister

Anchorage Daily News, Anchorage, Alaska, Saturday, February 23, 2002, Final Edition, Page B 7: Anchorage Resident Lee Raymond Chronister, 90, died Feb. 19, 2002, at his home. A service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at New Grace Christian Church, 10821 Totem Road. Mr. Chronister was born Sept. 11, 1911, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He moved to Whittier in 1952 and lived there until 1960, when he moved to Anchorage. He worked on the Missouri Pacific Railroad and as a roadhouse superintendent for the Alaska Railroad. He also worked at Totem Realty for 10 years. His family said: "He was a powerful and gifted athlete who played minor league baseball and pitched in a national fast-pitch softball championship. He could still throw 95 mph at 52 years old (lefty). He was also an excellent bowler and enjoyed horseshoes. "Our father is a man of leadership and great strength who faced a painful death with courage and concern for others. Secure in his knowledge of an eternal life with his Lord Jesus Christ, he passed on, loving his family with all of his heart." Mr. Chronister is survived by his wife, Roberta Lois Chronister of Anchorage; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Happy Chronister, Stephen and Lori Chronister, all of Anchorage, and Ronald Lee Chronister of South Carolina; daughters, Susan Lois Chronister of Anchorage, Margaret Ellen Wooding of Arizona, Glenda Ruth Scherman of Colorado; grandchildren, Christopher, Erik, Charity, David, Jenna, John, all of Anchorage; Trevor, Valerie, Jacob, Sean, Jim, Larry, Marjorie, Jennifer, Cynthia, Francis, Janna, Michael, all from outside Alaska. Arrangements were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
