Mary Elizabeth Huddleston

From the book, Oregon County in the Newspapers, Cemeteries & Courthouse, Vol. IV, Page 104: A Good Woman Gone--Mary Elizabeth (Huddleston) Kirkpatrick died April 1, 1910 at Thayer, Mo., aged nearly 55 years. Aunt Mary as we usually called her, was a native of this county and was known and loved by a host of friends. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Alton for many years. The funeral was conducted by Rev. F. C. Neeley, pastor, and she was interred Sat., April 2, at the Huddleston Cemetery, five miles from Alton. [South Missourian-Democrat, Alton, Mo., 7 Apr. 1910].

Kirkpatrick, lovingly called by her host of friends "Aunt Mary," heard the Savior's gentle voice calling "Come up higher." Obedient to that Voice, she fell asleep. Aunt Mary was born Aug. 7, 1855. For four years prior to her death he was the much loved, faithful and capable Superintendent of the Thayer Baptist Sunday School. She leaves a husband, sister, brother and many relatives. Hers was indeed a truly noble life. The circle of her influence extended to all classes and was permeated by the sweet smell of her loving, helpful sympathy. While she has gone from us yet character never dies...obit continues [South Missourian-Democrat, Alton, Mo., 21 Apr 1910].
