Atchison Daily Globe, Atchison, Kansas, Thursday, June 4, 1959, Page 2, Col. 3: Daniels Rites Are Pending. Mrs. Mahala Daniel, 67, widow of L. E. Daniels of the Winthrop community, died at 10 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Dyer, in Rushville. Her death was due to a heart condition induced by diabetes and was entirely unexpected. She had suffered with chest pains since last Friday, but was able to be up and around. The body is at the Sawin & Dyer funeral home. Funeral arrangements are pending. Mahala Kirkpatrick, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred* Kirkpatrick of the Bean Lake community was born Feb. 17, 1891. Her father established the present Kirkpatrick Camp on the west shore of Bean Lake now operated by her brother, Ora Kirkpatrick. Dec. 1, 1909, she was married to L. E. Daniels in Atchison. Mr. Daniels, who died May 4, 1957 was a rural mail carrier 30 years on route 2 out of Rushville. The home is about a mile east of Atchison on U.S. 59. Mrs. Daniels spent all of her life in Platte and Buchanan counties [Missouri]. She was a member of the First Christian church of Rushville. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Edward S. (Mayme) Hiner, Atchison and Mrs. Leonard D. (Mary) Dyer, Rushville; a son, L. E. Daniels, Jr., Praire Village, Kas.; one brother, Ora Kirkpatrick, Bean Lake and a granddaughter, Virginia Dyer, Rushville. A sister, Mrs. Dora Weldin, Bean Lake preceded her in death.

*Alfred was her grandfather. Mahala's parents were William Henry and Mary Jane (Rambo) Kirkpatrick.
Kirkpatrick Camp was a resort.
