The Baytown Sun, Baytown, Texas, Saturday, July 6, 2002: James Ernest Dix, 52, of Baytown, passed away Monday, July 1, 2002, in Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. James was proud to have been born and raised in Baytown. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Jackson and Mary Sara Jane Berthe of Baytown, Walter and Isabella Dix of Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, Edward Frank Sloan and Walter Eugene Dix. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn C. Dix of Clear Lake; parents James and Edna Berthe Dix of Huntsville; sister and brother-in-law, Leaila and W. Holley Wells; sister-in-law Norma E. Sloan of Kemah; brother-in-law Edward Collings of Tracy, Calif.; nephew, Robert H. Wells of Houston; nieces, Paige E. Sloan of Austin and Darrian C. Wilcox of Pasadena and several cousins. James was a 26-year employee of Celanese Chemical in Bay Port, Texas. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Baytown, the National Hot Rod Association, D.R.A.W., Good Guys Association, Honda Gold Wing Association and was an organ and tissue donor to Memorial Herman Hospital. Pallbearers will be lifelong friends Daniel Benedict, Edwin "Boo-Boo" Fojt, Jake Fojt, Ken Howell, Kenneth Naiser and James "Blizzard" McKinley. The eulogy will be delivered by Charles Fojt. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, July 5, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook in Baytown. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook in Baytown with Rev. Kyle Dennis of the First Christian Church of Huntsville, Texas, and Rev. Jeff Powers of the Cedar Bayou Methodist Church officiating. Music will be by family friend, Dana Davis. Internment will follow at 2:30 p.m., Forest Lawn Cemetery on 672 FM 980 in Huntsville. Arrangements are under the Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown.
