Oakley Graphic, Oakley, Kansas, Dec. 11, 2002: Edna Snider Rupe Thomas, 85, Meriden, died on Friday, December 6, 2002 at Topeka Care Center. She was born on December 5, 1917 at Hoburg, MO to Raymond and Ella (Snider) Rupe. She was a linotype operator for several Kansas town weeklies, joining the Topeka Capital as a linotype operator, later becoming a proof-reader. She received her 25 year pin and worked 30 years before retiring in 1982. She married Alfred Thomas Friday, September 13, 1935 at Lyndon. She was preceded in death by an infant son Jaewyn M. Thomas, her parents and two sisters. Survivors include her husband of the home; daughters Cherrie Clark and husband Robert of Oakley, Cista Leonard and husband Alan of Anaheim, CA; sons: Carl Thomas and wife Marlys of Omaha, NE, and Rockey Thomas and wife Sharon of Benton Harbor, MI; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, December 11 at Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Burial followed in Meriden Cemetery at Meriden in Jefferson County.
