He was born Oct. 18, 1896 in Bussey to Charles and Abigail Stone Moore. He was a former Wapello County farmer and later retired from John Morrell and Co. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Susie Wolfe, Dec. 10, 1918, in Unionville, Mo She died in 1956. He married Leora McElroy on Dec. 1, 1960, in Ottumwa. Survivors are his wife, a stepson Bill McElroy, of Ottumwa; step daughters, Vera Erickson of Pharr, Texas, Marjorie Myers of Ottumwa, Kathryn Whitaker of Fairfield, Betty Speyrer of LaFayette, La., and Carolyn Furlong of Coral Gables, Fla.; and 18 step grandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. John McElroy of Sigourney United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial: Ottumwa Cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. Memorial: to Gideons International in care of the funeral chapel.
