Amarillo Sunday News Globe, Amarillo, Texas, Sunday, May 1, 1960, Page 14, Col. 3: Stratford, April 30, Funeral services for John Bowen Willey, 75, retired Stratford farmer, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church here with Bruce Clark officiating. He will be assisted by Vernon Williams. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Stratford. Mr. Willey died at 6 a.m. Saturday at his home here following a long illness. He had been a resident of Stratford for 30 years coming here at that time from Indiana. He was born Jan. 19, 1885 and was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, two sons, J. J. Willey of Stratford and Ivan Willey of Kirtland, N. M.; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Norbye of Stratford and Mrs. Madge Holt of Italy, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
