He was a 1981 graduate of the Beaver City High School. Following high school, Matt attended Kearney State College for four years with a major in Business Administration. He was a member of the Grace Brethren Church.
Surviving are his parents; brother Mitch of Coatsville, PA, and his wife and children, Melissa and Jennifer; sisters, Nita, Mrs Jerry Phillips, Jeff, Torie and Josh of Beaver City; Joni, Mrs. Randy Bushnell, Tobi and Beau of York; Sherri, Mrs. Jeff Arter of Warsaw, IN and Melanie Lush of Kearney; a grandmother, Cecile Cass of Beaver City, other relatives and friends.
Front Page of the same issue describes the car accident that claimed Matt's life as well as two friends'. Printed above their obits was a note stating a joint funeral service for them was held at the School Auditorium with burial in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
