Funeral services for Mary Jennie Daugherty Stanhope will take place Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Scheer Memorial Chapel, 2410 Foothill Blvd. Pastor Ed Redfern of Church of the Nazarene will preside and burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation at Scheer is Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mrs. Stanhope, 100, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, at Olive Ridge Care Center. Born Nov. 24, 1896, in Stuart, Neb., she had been an Oroville resident 43 years. She attended Normal School and then taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Nebraska. Mrs. Stanhope was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Palermo Grange. Preceded in death by her husband, John in 1971, survivors include her daughters, Iris Roza and Patt Burtenshaw of Oroville, and Peggy Griffith of Jerome, Idaho, sons and daughters-in-law, John and Bernice of Jackson, Wyo., and Robert and Laura of Montague; son, William of Oroville; sister, Ada Howell of Alliance, Neb.; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Scheer Memorial Chapel.
