John Rudolph Grobmyer Sr.

Arkansas Gazette, Little Rock, Arkansas, Monday, September 25, 1944, Page 5: John R. Grobmyer, aged 59, of 327 Charles street, president of the J. R. Grobmyer Lumber Company, died at a Little Rock hospital Sunday. He had been well known in the lumber industry of Arkansas for many years. He formerly lived at Forrest City and served as mayor there a year. He came to Little Rock in 1926 and bought the Beeler Lumber Company. He had been in the lumber business since that time. Mr. Grobmyer attended school in Carrollton, Ky., and Xavier College, Dayton, O. He was a member of St. Andrew's cathedral, Little Rock Rotary Club, Little Rock Country Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Arkansas Lumbermen's Association, of which he was a past president. He served as president of the Forrest City Rotary Club in 1924 and 1925. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Tolise Grobmyer; four daughters, Mrs. J. E. Stanton, Jr., Mrs. W. L. Tedford, Jr., Mrs. W. S. Mitchell Jr., and Miss Marilyn Grobmyer; a son, John R. Grobmyer, Jr., and six grandchildren, all of Little Rock; five sisters, Mrs. Casper Hill, Mrs. John Glauber, Mrs. Lawrence Ramme and Mrs. Mack Evans of Carrollton, Ky., and Sister Agnes of Columbus, O. Funeral arrangements will be announced by R. H. Ruebel & Co.

Grobmyer Lumber Company will be held at St. Andrew's cathedral, Seventh and Louisiana street, by Father Bernard F. McDevitt at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial park by Ruebel & Co. [A long list of active and honorary pallbearers follows].
