Posted at findagrave.com: Shirley Ann Sande, 80, of Bemidji, MN, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, November 17, 2014 in Bemidji, MN. Memorial Services will be 11:00 am Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN with Pastor Mike Naylor officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A Private Interment will be held at the Turtle Lake Cemetery in Bemidji, MN. A luncheon will be held following the service at 1:00pm, Friday, November 21, 2014, at Beltrami Electric.
She was born on September 9, 1934, in Bemidji, the daughter of Gladys “Babe” (Barnell) and Bernie Howell. She attended Central Elementary School and Bemidji High School, graduating in 1952. She enrolled in the LPN course at the Bemidji Tech School and graduated in 1971. Shirley worked as a Nurse’s Aide and an LPN for many years at the old Bemidji Lutheran Hospital by Lake Bemidji. She was also the school nurse at Northern Elementary School and then had a day-care in her home in Puposky. She married Leland “Lee” Sande in Bemidji on August 21, 1957 [1952] at the First Presbyterian Church. The majority of their married life was spent in the Puposky and Bemidji area. Shirley spent many hours doing handwork, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren all have quilts and afghans made by her. She loved camping, fishing, spending time with her family, and listening to her husband play his guitar.
She is survived by her Daughters, Debra Smith of Minnetonka, MN, LeeAnn (Guy) Price of West St. Paul, MN, Kristin (David) Klimisch of Pleasant Prairie, Wisc. Sons, William (Cheryl) Sande of West Bend, Wisc. Michael (Barbara) Sande of Buffalo, MN, 12 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Grandchildren on the way. Sister, Sheila (Dale) Page of Hines, MN, 4 Sisters-in law, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her grandparents Cora and Pearl Barnell, and Frank and Lottie Howell. Memorials may be given to Sanford Hospice or the Bemidji Food Shelf.
