The Porterville Recorder, Porterville, California, April 9, 2014: Lester Ellis (Les) Terry was born October 2,1918 in Strathmore, CA. He lived all of his 95 1/2 years in the Strathmore/Porterville area, attending Harmony School; Strathmore High, and graduated from Fresno State, majoring in Agriculture. After college, he enlisted in the Air Force, serving this country he loved, in Africa and the European theatre for the remainder of the war. He returned to the farm in Strathmore, and met his future wife Norma (Harrison) who lived nearby. Les and Norma were married 61 years, raising their two boys, Dan and Brent, on the farm. Les was receded in death by his wife, Norma. He is survived by his sons, Dan and wife Kathleen of Pollock Pines, CA; his son Brent and wife Benet, of Incline Village, NV; his grandchildren Robyn and husband Todd Carlson, Porterville; Shawna & husband Paul Cloward, San Diego; and Summer & husband Adam Poole, Porterville. His delight was his great-grandchildren Autumn, Allyson, Samuel & Jacob Poole; Ria Carlson and Emma & Ellie Cloward. Graveside service will be held at the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery in Lindsay on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Reception information following service.
