LAKE HELEN - Alice Marie Toenjes, 82, of Sycamore Lane, who worked for Carson, Pirie, Scott & Co. in Mount Prospect, Ill., before her retirement, died Sunday at home. A native of Indianapolis, Mrs. Toenjes moved here from Mount Prospect in 1981. She also worked for L. S. Ayres in Indianapolis for 24 years. Mrs. Toenjes, a Sunday school teacher for 48 years, was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in DeLand. She also was a auxiliary member of the Florida Lutheran Retirement Center where she played the piano for 20 years and managed the Village Store. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, John; three daughters, Pamela Swanto, Orange City, Gay Toenjes, Jacksonville, and Patricia Cregar, Burke, Va.; and three grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129; or to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 509 E. Pennsylvania Ave., DeLand, FL 32724. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.
