Briscoe, 94, son of the late Wendell Francis and Rachel Edna (Downing) Briscoe, was born November 3, 1917, at Anadarko, Oklahoma. He died at his Ardmore residence March 30, 2012. Francis received a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Oklahoma in 1949. Francis retired as the Area Director of the Pacific Northwest Division from the U. S. Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, he came to Ardmore from Hillsboro, Oregon, in June of 1978. During World War II Francis served in the 45th Division and the 14th Armored Division of the U. S. Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion 43 years, Eastern Star (Anadarko), National Association of Retired Federal Employees. A 32nd Degree Mason, he joined the Verdon Lodge #329 AF & AM and then the Ardmore Masonic Lodge #31 AF & AM, Guthrie Valley Scottish Rite and the India Temple Shrine for 30 years. He also was a member of the TLF Dance Club, Ardmore 100 Dance Club, and the Joie De Vie Dance Club of Oklahoma City. His wife, the former Bonnie Lee Stribling, preceded him in death, September 28, 2006. Survivors include a sister, Winona B. Kern, Murphy, Texas; and nephews, Ronald P. and John R. Kern; niece, Susan Brintnall of Whittier, North Carolina; a cousin, Thelma Louise Ross of Chickasha; in Ardmore his many friends and associates, especially D. Tim Hill. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 3, at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Dan Patman. Military Honors and Masonic graveside rites will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Kohaw Foundation at any Bancfirst location in the state.
