Lexington Clipper Herald, Lexington, Nebraska, February 23, 2000: Funeral services for Dale Lemmon, 78, of Cozad will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cozad with Rev. Steve Deines officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Dale died Feb. 21, 2000, in Lincoln. Dale was born April 23, 1921, near Cozad to Robert "Burt" and Imogene Melius Lemmon. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1938. On Aug. 18, 1942, he married Lois Haynes at Seward. They lived on a farmsite northwest of Cozad known as Burwood Fruit Farm. The farm was established by his grandfather and consisted of 2,500 fruit trees. While farming, he built and operated the Lemmon Mills dehydrating mill at Willow Island. Following the sale of the mill, the Willow Island Land and Cattle business was established, which he operated with his two sons. During his remaining years, he became well known and widely respected as a cattle buyer for the private feed lot operations. Having never retired, he cherished his time with family and enjoyed the outdoors by fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed fishing in areas accessed only by his airboat. Dale was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Cozad Elks Lodge. Survivors include: his wife, Lois of Cozad; a son, Rick and Tamara of Cozad; a daughter-in-law, Suzie Lemmon of Cozad; granddaughter, Shannon Lemmon and fiance Anthony Aubushon; grandson, Kevin Lemmon; two brothers, Robert of Cozad and Lynn and Ella of Holdrege; and a brother-in-law, George Piester of Minden. He was preceded in death by his son Bradley in 1999 and a sister, Lois Piester. A memorial has been established in his memory. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of the arrangements.
