Charleston, July 19---Luther Harmon Kirkpatrick, 71 years old, life-long resident of the Diehlstadt community died last night at 7:45 o'clock at his home. A well-known farmer of Scott county he had been seriously ill only the past day. The body is at the Nunnelee Funeral Home in Charleston where it will remain until 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning when it will be taken to the family home. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church at Diehlstadt. Burial will be in the Mainard [Maynard] cemetery. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kirkpatrick, he was born March 3, 1876, and was a member of the Baptist church at Diehlstadt. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lula Kirkpatrick, five sons, Howard of Morley, Albert of Baltimore, Md., Sanford of St. Louis, Claude of Atlanta, Ga., and L. C. of Diehlstadt; six daughters, Mrs. Allie Rollins of Wickliffe, Ky., Mrs. Tillie Rollins of Melrose Park, Ill., Mrs. Ethel Elkins of Pontiac, Mich., Mrs. Frank S. Davis of Charleston, Mrs. Lorena Friend of Seneca, Mo., Mrs. Florence [Florene] Ferrell of Blodgett; a brother, J. L. Kirkpatrick of Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Lela Fields of Diehlstadt.
