From the Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Friday, July 18, 1975: Bessie Sullivan, 82 of 501 Mulkey St., Christopher, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday at Miners Hospital in Christopher after a lengthy illness. She was born Jan. 22, 1893 near Christopher to Leroy and Nancy Flowers Kirkpatrick. Her husband, William Sullivan, died in 1958 and a daughter, Ruby Faycak and a son, Robert Edmonds, also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Ethel Renaud of Johnston City and Bobbie Walker of Christopher; a brother Hobert Kirkpatrick of Christopher; a sister Effie Speegal of West Frankford; four grand children and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Russell Funeral Home in Christopher. The Rev. James Graddy will officiate. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Christopher. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
