Herbert, Sr., lifelong Custer county rancher who died Aug. 13 in Custer, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at McColley's Chapel with the Rev. Beryl Melcher officiating. Burial will be in Custer cemetery. Herbert was born Dec. 2, 1893 at Bakerville. He was married to Miss Jessie Brown Jan. 9, 1914 in Custer. Survivors include his widow, Jessie, Custer; two sons, Fred E., Jr., Custer, and Melvin, Oskaloosa, Kan.; a daughter, Edith Herbert, Michell; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial has been established for the Custer Fire Department.
