Southwest Times Record, Fort Smith, Arkansas, June 7, 2006: Dwight S. Cowan, 57, of Van Buren died Monday, June 5, 2006, in a local hospital. He was a mechanic at Bekaret Steel. A member of Dora Assembly of God, U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War receiving the Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He was preceded in death by both parents, Leonard and Lillie Abushone Cowan. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Dora Assembly of God in Dora with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cowan of the home; three daughters, Jane Nichols and Liz Hogan, both of Van Buren, and Paula Claypool of Spiro; two sisters, Bonnie Davidson of Lowell and Beverly Cowan of Stilwell, Okla.; one brother, Albert Cowan of Whitedeer, Texas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers: Grandsons, Jared Watts, Paul Nichols, A.J. Stith, T.J.
