John Ramsey Kirkpatrick

John R. Kirkpatrick was born March 1844 in Jackson County, Tennessee. He was married twice, first to Judah Hamblin or Hamlin on 29 October 1871, in Jackson, Johnson County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Hugh and Fanny (Calivan) Hamblin. She died not long after the marriage, and in 1873 he married her sister, Indiana. She was born 1 February 1840, in Daviess County, Missouri and died 30 January 1923 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. By 1900 they were residing in Scott Township, Fremont County, Iowa. He enlisted in the Confederate Army on 25 July 1862 as a corporal, and served in Captain James Leeper's Company, First Regiment of Missouri Calvary, C.S.A. He died about 1913 in McPaul, Fremont County, Iowa.

There were three (3) children born of the second marriage.

On the 1880 U. S. Census of Jackson, Johnson Co., Missouri, John appears with his wife India [sp] and children Aime, Jim and Willie. Also in the household is John's father Nero.
