Rachel Carlisle was born 23 April 1801 in Jackson County, Tennessee or Green County, Kentucky. On 23 September 1819 she married Reese Vandever (or Vernon) Morrel in Tennessee. He was born April 1795 in Camden District, South Carolina, and died 15 April 1869 in Blooming Grove, Navarro County, Texas, where he is buried in the Old Dresden Cemetery. He served in the Militia during the War of 1812. After Rachel's death circa 1847-8, probably in Texas, Reese married secondly to Mary Louise Patrick Brewer Roark on 2 March 1851.
