Mears Sr., 69, retired sales representative for Saydah Brothers Linen and Clothing Company, died Friday at Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 172, Royal Arch Chapter No. 48 and Garfield Commandery No. 18, McPherson, Order of Eastern Star No. 468 Enterprise, and the Enterprise United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Lorena; two sons, John C. Mears, Jr., Hanover Park, Ill., James H. Mears, Wichita; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (June) Curry, Goddard; six brothers, Van M. Mears and Marion H. Mears, both of Enterprise; Ralph J. Mears, Great Bend; H. Lee Mears, El Dorado; Robert M. Mears, Seattle, Wash., and Forest E. Mears, Pacifica, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Hoard, Jamestown, Kan.; Mrs. Helen Arnold, Lyons, Mrs. Roberta Smith, Enterprise, and Mrs. Marjorie Deputy, Wichita; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Enterprise United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Abilene Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3-4 p.m. at the Irwin Funeral Home in Enterprise.
