The Billings Gazette, Billings, Montana, October 22, 1990: Glendive---Ernest Wilburn Herbert, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 1990, at St. John's Nursing Home in Billings. He was born April 14, 1906, in Anaconda, a son of William B. and Lucelia Stanhope Herbert. He moved with his family to Stipec and later to Glendive in 1920. He attended Dawson County High School. Ernest worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1971. He married Edith E. Chase on June 16, 1931, in Glendive. He enjoyed working on cars and was a good handyman around the house. Survivors include his wife, Edith of Glendive; a son, Richard E. Herbert of Hanover, Maryland; a daughter, Geraldine C. Hauck of Billings; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James W., in 1974. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evangelical Church of North American, with Pastor Bob Weinberger officiating. Burial will be in Dawson Memorial Cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is in charge of all arrangements.
