Telegraph-Herald, Dubuque, Iowa, September 17, 1935, Front Page, Col. 3: Expect Mishap Victim To Live. Nashua Woman Suffering From Skull Fracture. New Hampton, Ia.---Special: Physicians at St. Joseph's hospital here said Tuesday that injuries suffered by Mrs. Clark Scoles, 23, of Nashua, in an automobile accident near Hawkeye Saturday night would probably not be fatal. Mrs. Scoles suffered a fractured skull and a fractured right arm. Her daughter, Connie Lee, three years old, is suffering from head injuries. Harold Kirchman of Sumner, driver of the other car which struck the automobile driven by Dale Walsh, 25, Clear Lake truck driver, received cuts and bruises on the face, arms and chest. He is expected to be released from the hospital within a few days. Mrs. Walsh, 26, was fatally injured in the crash. Her mother, Mrs. August Becker, 50, of Nashua, is in a West Union hospital with a fractured skull. Walsh, who also suffered a fractured skull, is also in the West union hospital. Miss Virginia Harms, Leslie Wells and Miss Lucille Kirchman, who were in the automobile with Harold Kirchman, were all treated at the hospital here. The young women were treated for cuts and bruises while Wells had a fractured collarbone set.

From the Wisconsin State Journal Newspaper, Saturday, December 23, 2000: Lucille H. Scoles, age 89 of Spring Green, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2000, at Greenway Manor Nursing Home in Spring Green. She was born on November 4, 1911 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of August and Lulu (Coler) Becker. Lucille was married on October 4, 1930, to Clark Scoles. She was the site manager for the Senior Meal Program in Sanborn, Iowa, for many years and was a volunteer at Greenway Manor in Spring Green for 20 years. Survivors include five children, Connie (Greg) Tafs of Spring Green, Larry (Linda) Scoles of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Dorothy Scoles to St. Paul, Minnesota, Kathy Scoles of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mark (Carol ) Scoles of Spring Green; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Lulu Becker; her husband, Clark Scoles; a grandson Brandon Scoles; and a sister Dorothy Walsh. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 24, 2000, at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church in Spring Green. The Rev. Jeanette Sandjord will officiate, with visitation to be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at 3:30 pm at Roseland Cemetery at Sanborn, Iowa, Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
