He formerly taught vocational agriculture at Whitewater High School and was currently employed as an organizer of youth and adults farmers' programs for vocational, technical, and adult education courses.

He was born in Hortonville and married Hila Culver in Galena, Ill., in 1933. Mr. Heffernan was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Green Bay Kiwanis Club.

Surviving are his wife and three daughters.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the church. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Skindingsrude Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville.
