Telegraph Herald, Dubuque, Iowa, Tuesday, February 26, 2002: Mrs. Orville (Marguerite F. "Maggie") Ludwig, 70, of 2014 Kniest St., died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, with burial in Holy Family Cemetery, Peosta, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m. She was born on Oct. 9, 1931, in Farley, Iowa, daughter of Harry and Rose (Meyer) Stoffel. She married Orville Ludwig on May 1, 1956, at Holy Family Church, Peosta. She attended high school in Peosta. She volunteered for the Dubuque City Rescue Mission and the SHARE program. She was a member of Holy Ghost Parish and the Community of the Living Word at Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed making crafts and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her husband, Orville; six sons, William F. Ludwig, of Millersburg, Iowa, James J. Ludwig, John G. Ludwig, Tim F. (Jodi) Ludwig and Thomas I. Ludwig (Leslie McConnell), all of Dubuque, and Peter P. (Sue) Ludwig, of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; a daughter, Susan M. Brothers, of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Delores Gassman, of Dubuque, Bernice Gassman, of Bernard, Iowa, and Shirley Schauer (Dorrance), of Dubuque; a brother, Francis (Patricia) Stoffel, of Key West, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Marguerite F. "Maggie" Ludwig Memorial Fund has been established. The family wishes to thank Renee and Sheila from Hospice, Dr. Lawrence Kukla, Dr. Mark Runde and his nurses, Donna and Julie. The family would also like to thank the many neighbors and friends and Ruby Sutton and the Rock of Ages Choir for their love and support.
