Allen, 79, of Platteville, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville, with her loving family by her side. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Platteville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Johnsen officiating. Burial will be in Rock Church Cemetery, Livingston. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Mrs. Allen worked at the former Burgess Battery Factory in Platteville for a short time. She was born on Nov. 19, 1923, in Rewey, daughter of Irven and Margaret (Kramer) Ludwig. She married Donald Allen on Oct. 1, 1949; he preceded her in death on March 18, 2002. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5274 Ladies Auxiliary of Platteville, and a member of the Platteville United Methodist Church. She spent her entire life as a homemaker and taking care of her family, which she took great pride in. Lenice was very much loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Surviving are a son, Duane Allen, of Carmel, Calif.; two daughters, Barb (Jerry) Nicholson and Kathy (Jeff) Richardson, both of Platteville, six grandchildren, Aaron Allen, of New Mexico, Nathan Allen, of Madison, Cheri (Jeff) Bengsch, of Milwaukee, Lisa (Stan) Banfield, of Cuba City, Toni (Shannon) Plowman, of Dubuque, and Rachel Richardson, of Platteville; two great-grandsons, Brandon Plowman and Joshua Banfield; two sisters, June (Pete) Eckstein, of Mount Horeb, and Joyce (Dan) Ahmann, of Dubuque; and a brother, Orville Ludwig, of Dubuque.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Boldt; and a brother, Earl, in infancy.
