Albert Lea Times Enterprise, Albert Lea, Minnesota, Wednesday, Jul 1, 1914, age 5, Col. 6: After a lingering illness with tuberculosis Mrs. John Hayes died Monday morning about two o'clock, June 22nd at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nelson. Selma Katherine Nelson was born July 1, 1892 and was married to John J. Hayes in Nov. 1911. She is survived by her husband and little daughter, Irene, also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nelson and brothers, Elvin, Julius, Clarence and Charles and sisters, Dora, Marie, Nina and her twin sister Elma, besides several other relatives and friends. Funeral was held at the house Thursday 11 o'clock and at Red Oak Grove church at 2:30. Rev. J. A. E. Naess, of Austin conducting the services.
