The Hawk Eye, Burlington, Iowa, June 19, 2005: David Eric Dougherty, 45, of Hamilton, Ill., died Thursday, June 16, 2005, at his home. Born Aug. 14, 1959, in Keokuk, he was the son of Robert and Dorothy Heston Dougherty. Mr. Dougherty worked as a computer programmer. He was a 1977 graduate of Keokuk High School and received his bachelor's degree from Truman State in Kirksville, Mo. He was a resident of Hamilton since 1996. Before that he lived in Independence, Mo., and Overland Park, Kan. He was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk. He enjoyed reading, photography and computers. He loved to watch sports and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. Survivors include his mother of Keokuk; one daughter, Sarah of Allentown, Pa.; four brothers, Robert Dougherty of Apache Junction, Ariz., Michael Dougherty of Detroit, Roger Dougherty of Manchester and Douglas Dougherty of McGaheysville, Va.; and one sister, Lisa Bode of Keokuk. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Dougherty will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Vigen Memorial Home, with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. A memorial has been established.
