NW, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Toddville Free Methodist Church by the Rev. Mark Lofquist and the Rev. Del Bear. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at Teahen Funeral Home and again after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Charles is survived by his wife, Jolene; a daughter, Amy (LaMont Jones) Kirkpatrick; three sons, Charles Albert "Kirk" IV (Kim Davenport), David (Leslie) and Scott, all of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Jonathan (Shayna Hahn), Tyler, David, Heidi, Noah, Scotty Kirkpatrick and Gabriel Marley, all of Cedar Rapids; great-grandson, Jonathan Kirkpatrick; two brothers, David (Kathy) of Milwaukee, Wisc., and William (Marj) of Cedar Rapids; sister, Ellen (Steve) Amsden of Shellsburg; stepsister, Linda Morris of Cedar Rapids; stepmother Gladys Kirkpatrick; brother-in-law, G. Robert "Bob" (Carolyn) Mann of Wichita, Kan.; sister-in-law, Sheryl (Tim) Stanley of Marion and several nieces and nephews. His parents; sister, Dorothy Kirkpatrick Kelley, and close friend and grandfather, August Kramer, preceded Charles in Death. Charles Albert Kirkpatrick III was born Dec. 5, 1942, in Dubuque, the son of Charles and Dorothy McGann Kirkpatrick. He graduated from Washington High School in 1962 and received his Associate Degree from Kirkwood Community College in 1982. He married Jolene Mann on December 20, 1974, in Cedar Rapids. He worked for Water Pollution Control Facility of Cedar Rapids as an operator for 20 years. Charles was a member of Toddville Free Methodist Church. Some of Chuck's favorite things to do included playing chess and reading Uncle John's bathroom readers. He always enjoyed spending time with his family.
