The Hawk Eye, Burlington, Iowa, 1 September 2004: Keith Garretson, 77, of Mount Pleasant, died following an 18-month battle with lymphoma at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, while under hospice care. Born April 9, 1927, near Salem, he was the son of Summer and Florence Garretson. He first married in 1949. On June 29, 1985, he married Jimmie Jewell Anderson. Survivors include his wife; one son, Keith Garretson of Minneapolis; two daughters, Terri Bruch of Chicago and DeeAnn Garretson of Cincinnati; one stepson, Brian Smith of Cedar Rapids; one stepdaughter, Darla Bolander of Palm Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Doris Garretson of Mount Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. The family held a small private service in Salem and will announce a gathering to celebrate his life at the Garretson A-frame on the Garretson farm at a later date. Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
