Chattanooga Times Free Press, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Saturday, October 14, 2000: Vera C. Grant of Hixson died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at her home. She was 81. Mrs. Grant had been a member of Red Bank Baptist Church since 1951. She was a member of the Lorene Telford Sunday School Class, the Senior Adults, the Prime Timers and the Hixson Lioness Club. Survivors include her husband, Willard Grant; two daughters, Jeanne Abbott, Soddy-Daisy, and Sharon Slaten, Tallahassee, Fla; two sons, John and Don Grant, both of Hixson; three sisters, Irene Charlton, Chattanooga, Catherine Drake, White House, Tenn., and Evelyn Briley, Cottontown, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Steelman and chaplain Aline Summerlin officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
