Chattanooga Times Free Press, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Saturday, March 29, 2003, Page 14: Irene Cabler Charlton, 94, of Chattanooga, died Friday, March 28, 2003, in a local health care facility. She was a graduate of White House High School and attended Middle Tennessee State Teachers College in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Charlton was an artist, a former member of Crandall Art Club and had paintings accepted by Hunter Museum's Annual Exhibits during the 1970s. She was a family genealogist and contributed to books on Haralson, Lane and Kirkpatrick families. She was the widow of Ottis Ruby Charlton, who was a former vice president of Hamilton National Bank. She also was preceded in death by her grandson, David Sironen; and sister, Vera Cabler Grant. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Charlton; sisters, Katie Cabler Drake, Hendersonville, Tenn., and Evelyn Cabler Briley, New Deal, Tenn.; grandchildren, Charlton Sironen; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Sironen, both of Augusta, Ga.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House, Tenn. Interment will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, White House. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas Nursing Home, 600 Pine St., Chattanooga, TN 37402. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel.
