Donald Crouch was born 27 May 1930 at Imboden, Randolph County, Arkansas. He is reported to have served during WWII in the Air Force, but because of his age, it is most likely that he served in the Korean War*.

*An email from Michael Crouch, Donald's brother, dated 21 Feb 2006 states:
After basic training in the Air Force around 1951 (don’t remember where), my brother Donald David Crouch served in the Air Force near London, England, in a “weather forecasting” unit in approx. 1952-1954, then in Colorado Springs, CO, in the same capacity. He lived the rest of his life from 1956 or so on in Sacramento, CA, where he died following a heart attack suffered on Father’s Day while playing golf with his son Scott and grandson Scottie, then a massive stroke during heart surgery 2 days later, which caused a deep coma from which he never woke up. Had he not smoked most of his adult life, he probably would have lived into his 90's.
